The Yoga
The Yoga taught by Opal takes its sequences from Vinyasa Yoga, but the foundation of the practice is based on the technique of Sukhita Yoga, the Yoga of Joy. A method of Yoga that integrates the tools of mindfulness into the practice of Asanas, which emphasizes anchoring, centering and the experience of joy during the practice.
Sukhita Yoga is a very inspiring new method of yoga, which opens a new path and gives a new dimension to the practice. Created by Hugh Poulton and Sarah Haden, Sukhita Yoga places our ability to «listen softly» at the heart of the practice.
«The stiffest muscle is the one between our ears» (that is: our mind) always says Hugh. Our mental attitude affects our response in the body, facing a difficult Asana, for example. Can we smile through the practice and find joy in every breath?
Transitions between Asanas are as important as Asanas. We learn to know where to put our attention, to feel stable and light at the same time. We learn to gently use our core to eliminate tensions in the body; move from our center like dancers to let the body express its natural sense of balance, and release our movements. We learn to stay centered, anchored and relax our mind; to flow through life, as in our practice, with greater ease and support.
Meditation
Did you know that the stiffest muscle is in your head? We are mostly limited by our mind. By learning to smile and relax the mind, we find more freedom and flexibility in our body, and lightness in our practice. Experience a unique approach, integrating the elements of Mindfulness Meditation into the physical practice of Yoga, and use these tools in your life!
It is because Opale has studied different types of Yoga that she can offer you a precise approach of each posture. You will be gently led to first practice breathing exercises, as well as a warm-up of joints and muscles to gradually prepare you for advanced postures, at the end of the week. Opale teaches with a sensitive and professional approach that allows each student to evolve in their practice, at their own pace, with fluidity and confidence.
