Yoga means union. Union between Body and Mind. The deep and active breathing used in Yoga, linked to the awarness of every part of the body in action, allows the consciousness of the present moment to rise.
Within a regular practice of physical Yoga, dynamic or restorative, the Asanas* will bring vitality, strength and flexibility to the body, improve the posture, bring peace to the mind and gradualy calm the nervous system.
More than a physical activity, Yoga is a state of being, state of mind where consciousness is present at all times; consciousness of the breath, deep and active; consciousness of every part of the body in action; consciousness and use of the Bandhas**.
A great importance is given to the placement of the body in each Asana*, in order to avoid pain and physical problems commonly caused by improper alignment. Seeking a high degree of precision (within each body’s own limitations), the movements are fluid and follow each one’s own rhythm of breath. The Yoga session becomes one big flowing sequence, done with awareness and joy.
